We stopped at this beautifully decorated sushi restaurant for the first time passing through the city. They have a cute, rock fountain inside.

The service was very quick and very friendly with our hostess and waiter Aaron!

The food was fresh and delicious! We ordered salmon and assorted sashimi (which is my favourite and I order it every sushi restaurant I go). It was firm and tasty with a wonderful texture and the grated daikon was the perfect accompaniment. My little man ate a full order of salmon sashimi. My friend ordered sake maki and a crispy roll which he enjoyed.

The teriyaki chicken livers were a first time order. I really enjoyed them. Perfectly cooked and lots of onions! Mmmmm.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant to sashimi and sushi lovers everywhere.

    Its an okay restaurant.

The portion sizes are small, and the price is large for what you receive.

That being said the food was good, just expensive, the service was good, nothing special though.

Overall I would say their greatest asset is the ascetics of the restaurant. It feels comforting and foreign at the same time, very cool. Overall I would go there if I wanted a fancy sushi date but I don't think its the place to go to on a regular basis.

I'll start by saying that Otowa is part of a string of asian cuisine that has served to redeem my original impression of the awful asian food scene in Saskatoon.

Came here for dinner purely by chance after finding out my other choice of the evening was closed. Located quite centrally near the Midtown plaza, this place sports a big hanging sign you can't miss, with a colourful picture of Mt. Fuji.

Inside, the place is decorated nicely, albeit somewhat tacky. It was serene, until I started hearing bass coming from next door (possibly a club). Nonetheless, it didn't detract from my dinner. Service was prompt, and the waitress was super friendly and nice, but then again this was not at a busy time.

The roll selection is not huge, but sizeable enough with some interesting inventions. Ordered the crunch roll and another one I can't remember. I was pleasantly surprised. The sushi was coated with crunchy stuff, which looked suspiciously like rice crispies. My first thought was 'crap, what the hell is this' but it was actually marvellous. Taste was comparable to restaurants in the GTA. Portions were reasonably sized, and I was pleased to have paid only $20 for 2 big rolls that left me feeling stuffed. My only incredibly picky complaints are that the rice was ever-so-slightly dry, and the tempura shrimp in my roll was not entirely crispy...but these things were easily forgivable.

Will absolutely be coming back for more. I'd be interested to try something with a larger percentage of fish. I feel like freshness is the true mark of a good sushi restaurant.

My family took us here after raving about their black pepper ribeye, plus it was owned by my Uncles friend.  We were a party of 12.  The restaurant was not busy with only about 5 tables filled.  There was only 2 staff noticeably working.  Took 20 mins before our order was taken.  Took another hour before our food came to the table.  We were all pretty frustrated, annoyed and dissatisfied with our food.  It being my uncles friends place, we refrained from making a big deal out of the service.

The Otowa Sashimi was a big disappointment.  You can smell the fishiness of the fish and the color was not fresh either.  The only fish that was edible was the salmon.

The Ribeye was cooked perfectly and tasted great however, the sauteed mushrooms that came with it were overly salted.  kReally salted.

The chicken wings, softshell crabs, and rolls were all decent.

I don't know what happened the day we were there and why our food took sooo long to get to us but they should have at least let us know they were backed up rather than kept telling us that our food will be coming right out.  Noone should wait over an hour for their food especially subpar and mediocre quality.  Maybe it was an offday they had but I will not be back.

They have good service. I think it is the best Japanese food in Saskatoon, but sashimi are not fresh enough.
